From how to keep a man to how to escape them, each woman has their own stories to tell. His dirty shirt, his disgusting underwear, his daily ironing, his bad breath, his hemorrhoid attacks, his fuss, not to mention his bad moods, and his tantrums. Marji, our narrator, is mostly just an observer in this I was disappointed by this thin volume, not because it was thin, but because it was flat.


I missed her playing a more active role. Some amusing anecdotes – the structure or lack thereof basically consists of eavesdropping on a group of Iranian women as they discuss sex and virginity – but it’s a very slight work, even if you don’t compare it to The Complete Persepolis.
